Join the ‘Movement’… in Vegas this time!

Here’s looking at a group of the most forward-thinking accounting professionals from all over the country.

If you are someone who always feels ahead of change when attending a state CPA society meeting or talking with your peers, you likely are a good fit for the Movement. For example, when you chat about cloud computing or how technology has positively changed the way you work with clients, do others understand what you mean? Or do you feel alone in your innovative awesomeness? Perhaps you are a leader who has applied “whole change” in practice management and ultimately changed the very culture of your firm for the MUCH better. Does this sound familiar?

The entire Movement clan will be in attendance at the Practitioners Symposium and TECH+ Conference in partnership with the Association for Accounting Marketing Summit in Las Vegas, June 11-13, and we will be loaded with several new ideas for practice management, such as throwing out time sheets and applying value pricing across the board, running your firm exclusively from the cloud, and creating a great culture. We are doing things differently, and the result has been great success. We’ll show you how.

You can look forward to many great presentations at PS/TECH+, specifically the Movement’s “unconference” track, in which PowerPoint is not allowed and interactive participation is required. Think of it as round tables on steroids. I also recommend feeding the right side of your brain by attending some marketing sessions.

Be sure to check out my session, co-presented with Jason Blumer, CPA/CITP, and all-around cool cat: “You Have Your Dad’s Firm, Now What?” (See description below.)

“Jody and Jason met via Twitter. Both joined their dads’ sole proprietor firms after working elsewhere. Both are 40 and have taken their fathers’ firms in new directions, each experiencing phenomenal growth. They have joined to share their best practices. Jason’s focus is on process, client selection, and ROWE. Jody’s focus is on SaaS technology, value pricing, and operating a firm without timesheets. What will a firm of the future look like? It’s already here. This session is for those who would like to start their own firm or just need a jumpstart to grow and make their firm more profitable. Jody and Jason will each share how they reinvented their fathers’ firms and how their dads are thrilled with the outcome.”

Also be sure to attend other great courses such as:

  • “Tax Research in the Google Age” presented by a leading tax blogger from Forbes, Kelly Phillips Erb (@taxgirl on Twitter).
  • The good, bad, and ugly of firm billing models presented by Ron Baker, master of value pricing

As if there wasn’t enough good stuff during the conference, you can also attend the after-party Wednesday afternoon. Be sure to catch the THRIVEal-cast interview of Mark Koziel, CPA, CGMA, AICPA vice president–Firm Services & Global Alliances, and Tom Hood, CPA/CITP, CGMA, executive director of the Maryland Association of CPAs, offering more information on new firm management practices.

With a cadre of future-thinking professionals, there will enough energy, humor, and intellectual power to change the world. Well, OK, maybe not the whole world, but the CPA profession for sure! Join us. Join the Movement in Vegas. We’ll leave the light on for you.
