AICPA Announces Latest Edition of Audit Sampling Audit Guide

WHAT:

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) releases the newest edition of Audit Sampling, a detailed Audit Guide consisting of the latest requirements and practices of audit sampling. Updated for the first time since 2001, the guide is a substantive revision that demonstrates the changes brought about by the risk assessment standards. It has been conformed to reflect the Defining Professional Requirements standard (SAS No. 102), and includes guidance on audit documentation (SAS 103), and communicating internal control related matters (SAS 112).

DETAILS:

Expanded guidance includes the application of sampling to tests of controls and test of details, determining sample size and evaluating sample results. This new edition contains multiple new and updated case studies including an in-depth look into non-statistical sampling. The appendices provide sampling tables, testing considerations, and a comparison of the key provisions of the risk assessment standards.
