AICPA Launches New Annual ‘International Issues’ Conference

October 30, 2007
New York, NY

SEC Chairman Headlines as Keynote Speaker

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) announces the first annual International Issues Conference, taking place on Jan. 10 - 11, 2008, in Washington, D.C. The conference will focus on important issues affecting international practice, such as International Financial Reporting Standards; advice on international taxes; business in global markets and more. Designed specifically for those working in the international business arena, conference experts and speakers will share practical ways to deal with tax, accounting and auditing issues.

The inaugural conference will feature keynote speakers, Christopher Cox, chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission; Robert H. Herz, chairman of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB); and Robert L. Bunting, chairman of the international services group of Moss Adams LLP and deputy president of the International Federation of Accountants.

"We believe that this conference will be the premier event in its field — combining breadth and depth in speakers and topics with unique networking opportunities,” said Lawrence Gill, conference chairman. “Most importantly, the International Issues Conference responds to real needs of those who must deal with international accounting, auditing, tax and consulting issues, whether in public practice, or industry and business," said Gill of Schiff Hardin LLP.

The conference cost is $1195 for AICPA members and $1395 for nonmembers. Register by Nov. 25 to save $75. The recommended CPE credits include 17.5 for the main conferences and 3 for the optional workshops. The conference will be held at the JW Marriott Hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C.
