The Adviser’s Guide to Innovative Tax Planning for Individuals and Sole Proprietors guides you through tax-saving techniques and strategies, illustrated by practical examples, so that you may assist your clients in planning and implementing tax-saving choices, based upon their individual tax situation.

For instance, for most individuals, the purchase or sale of a home will be the largest transaction they will make in their lifetime. Will you be ready to advise your clients on the most tax-savvy methods to effect the transaction? This Guide covers the twists and turns necessary to wring the maximum tax savings out of the home sale gain exclusion rules. Do you have clients whose mortgages are “underwater?” This Guide covers the tax rules that can apply when a residence is sold in a short sale or is foreclosed. In addition, you will learn about:

  • Year-end gain and loss shifting
  • Capital gain and loss rules
  • Like-kind exchanges
  • The Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT)
  • Investments
  • IRAs and Roth IRAs
  • College financing

Use these innovative strategies to maximize tax savings for your clients and advise them on investment opportunities.
