Professional Responsibility: Financial Forensic Accounting Series

This course will help the forensic specialist better understand the basic structure of the legal system; applicable professional standards; and the roles of a forensic CPA including testifying verses consulting expert.

Objectives:

• Understand the requirements of the AICPA Code of Conduct.
• Understand the guidance established by Statement on Standards for Consulting Services No. 1 (“SSCS 1”).
• Develop an awareness of the resources available to and leveraged by forensic CPAs.
• Explore the roles played by forensic CPAs (including testifying vs. consulting expert).
• Review the basic structure of applicable legal systems including the Rules of Evidence.
• Analyze the Rules of Civil Procedure, Rules of Criminal Procedure, and Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure.
