Dom Cingoranelli is a co-founder of and the Executive Vice President, Consulting Services, for Succession Institute, LLC, a management consulting firm with offices in Texas and Colorado. He assists CPAs and other executives in making their organizations better, faster and stronger, through his focus on growth, strategy and performance issues. His work includes helping CPA firms move from an Eat What You Kill business model to a One Firm business model.
He has performed strategy consulting and planning, process improvement studies, management consulting, training and development, team building, coaching and group process facilitation for a variety of groups. His clients include CPA firms, professional and trade associations, project managers and executives on large, complex projects for major manufacturers, midsize to very large businesses, and other organizations dealing with change, performance and leadership issues. In addition to this, Dom has over 30 years of experience in owning his own CPA practice which he recently sold.
Mr. Cingoranelli co-authored the material for the PCPS Succession Management Resource Center for CPAs and the Trusted Business Advisor Resource Center, as well as updates to the Trusted Business Advisor workshop. He consults with CPAs on growth, strategy, performance, governance, compensation and succession management issues. He also conducts other management consulting, training and development for CPAs, general managers, and other professionals and technical specialists through his work in organization development. Dom earned his MBA with honors from Regis University. He is a Certified Management Consultant and a member of the Institute of Management Consultants, the AICPA and the Colorado Society of CPAs.

Stan Sterna is the Director of Claims for the accountants’ professional liability insurance program of Continental Casualty Company, one of the CNA insurance companies and the underwriter for the AICPA Professional Liability Insurance Program. He is responsible for the operation of the claims department and directly manages a staff of claim professionals who exclusively handle accountants’ malpractice claims throughout the United States.
Stan is a licensed attorney and has been a member of the Illinois State and Federal Bar since 1990. He has worked exclusively in the area of professional liability defense and in that capacity, has provided claims and risk control advice to professionals throughout the United States. Since 1998, he has worked exclusively with Certified Public Accountants. He has investigated thousands of accountants’ professional liability claims, ranging from tax matters to failed financial institution and fraudulent “ponzi” scheme claims arising from audit engagements.
Stan regularly addresses CPAs and accountants’ professional liability defense attorneys regarding trends and issues currently affecting the accounting profession.
Prior to joining to CNA in 1998, Stan practiced as a litigation defense attorney in the Chicago area. His practice focused primarily on the defense of professional liability claims.
David W. Hinshaw is a Member in Dixon Hughes PLLC and has 28 years of experience in public accounting and industry. Dave joined the Professional Standards Group of Dixon Hughes in June 2007. Prior to joining Dixon Hughes, Dave was the Chief Financial Officer of a publicly-held, community bank that is an accelerated filer. Prior to serving as a publicly-held bank CFO, Dave was the Director of Accounting and Auditing for a regional CPA firm, and a senior manager in a national CPA firm. In addition to his CFO experience, Dave’s public accounting experience includes clients ranging from small privately-held companies to international publicly-held corporations, with concentrations in the financial institution, transportation, and real estate industries. Dave has extensive experience with mergers and acquisitions and SEC registration and reporting, having assisted clients in numerous transactions and debt and equity offerings.
As a member of the AICPA’s Accounting Standards Executive Committee (AcSEC) from 1999 through 2002, Dave has been involved national accounting standards-setting initiatives. Dave is currently a member of the AICPA’s Depository Institutions Expert Panel, and was a member of the AICPA’s SEC Regulations Committee from 2003 through 2006, the primary liaison between the accounting profession and the SEC on technical matters relating to SEC rules and regulations. Dave was also a member of the task force that developed the AICPA Audit Guide, Assessing and Responding to Audit Risk in a Financial Statement Audit, and is a member of theAICPA Airlines Task Force.
Dave is a graduate of North Carolina State University, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, and a Fellow, Life Management Institute.
